RELATING TO HEALTH AND SAFETY -- MICROPLASTICS REDUCTION ACT
Rep. Maximus supports the Microplastics Reduction Act sponsored by Senator Cano that would ban manufacturers from selling, offering for sale, or dstributing any products containing microplastics.
Why This Matters
Microplastic pollution significantly threatens Rhode Island's environment, with an estimated thousands of tons accumulating in Narragansett Bay sediment. These particles, mainly from urban runoff and synthetic materials, impact marine life, carry chemical toxins, and are now present in the state's air and water.
