Meet Maximus

Leadership That Moves Us Forward.
A State Representative committed to building a more sustainable, forward-thinking Rhode Island through thoughtful policy, strong community engagement, and long-term planning.

A Foundation in Science & Education

Max was raised by two parents deeply rooted in academia and scientific research. From an early age, he was exposed to the role that education, research, and evidence-based thinking play in shaping meaningful outcomes.

His childhood was spent exploring the outdoors, learning through hands-on experiences like hiking and gardening, and traveling with his parents to academic conferences across rural western Massachusetts. These experiences fostered both a deep appreciation for the environment and an understanding of how ideas can influence policy and progress.

Connecting Ideas to Community

After moving to Warwick as a teenager, Max began to connect his academic upbringing with a growing interest in public life. Watching his parents present research, engage in public discussion, and contribute to broader conversations helped shape his own confidence in communication and critical thinking.

These experiences sparked an early interest in how policy is formed and how it can be used to address real-world challenges.

Education & Professional Experience

Max attended Salve Regina University, where he earned his degree in Environmental Studies. His academic work focused on the intersection of environmental science and public policy, particularly as it relates to coastal communities.

Following graduation, he began his career with the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, gaining firsthand experience in how policy is implemented at the state level. At the same time, he joined the faculty at the University of Rhode Island, where he continues to teach and mentor students while remaining engaged in research and public dialogue.

From Advocacy to Public Service

Max’s first direct involvement in public policy came through advocacy, where he testified in support of renewable energy initiatives, including offshore wind development. That experience reinforced his belief that effective policy requires both expertise and public engagement.

It also marked the beginning of his transition from observer to participant in the policymaking process.
